چکیده
Abstract Economic and technological development has increased the amount, density complexity of maritime traffic, which resulted in new challenges. One challenge is conforming to distinct evasion manoeuvres required by vessels entering into near-collision situations (NCSs). Existing rules are vague do not precisely dictate which, when how collision avoidance (CAMs) should be executed. The automatic identification system (AIS) widely used for vessel monitoring traffic control. This paper presents an efficient, scalable method processing large-scale raw AIS data using closest point approach (CPA) framework. NCSs identified create a database historical data. Important features describing CAMs defined, estimated analysed. Applications on high-quality real-world set show promising results subset situations. Future applications may play significant role regulatory framework, navigation protocol compliance evaluation, risk assessment, avoidance, algorithm design testing autonomous vessels.

Optimization-Based Collision Avoidance
This paper presents a novel method for reformulating non-differentiable collision avoidance constraints into smooth nonlinear constraints using strong duality of convex optimization. We focus on a controlled object whose goal is to avoid obstacles while moving in an n-dimensional space. The proposed reformulation does not introduce approximations, and applies to general obstacles and controlled...
متن کاملProbabilistic Near Mid-Air Collision Avoidance
We propose a probabilistic method to compute the near mid-air collision risk as a function of predicted ight trajectory. The computations use state estimate and covariance from a target tracking lter based on angle-only sensors such as digital video cameras. The majority of existing work is focused on risk estimation at a certain time instant. Here we derive an expression for the integrated ris...

In research on Traffic Conflicts Techniques, Time-To-Collision (TTC) has proven to be an effective measure for rating the severity of traffic conflicts and for discriminating critical from normal behaviour. The results of several studies point to the direct use of TTC as a cue for decision-making in traffic. The current development of driver support systems based on the application of modern te...
متن کاملNext - Generation Airborne Collision Avoidance System
Building a collision avoidance system that can meet the safety standards required of commercial aviation is challenging. Lincoln Laboratory, in collaboration with other organizations, spent decades developing and refining the system that is in use today [1]. There are several reasons why creating a robust system is difficult. The sensors available to the system are imperfect and noisy, resultin...
متن کاملRoadmap Based Pursuit-Evasion and Collision Avoidance
We study pursuit-evasion games for mobile robots and their applications to collision avoidance. In the first part of the paper, under the assumption that the pursuer and the evader (possibly subject to physical constraints) share the same roadmap to plan their strategies, we present sound and complete strategies for three different games. In the second part, we utilize the pursuit-evasion resul...
